Giacomo Boni. L’alba della modernità
Exhibition organized by Alfonsina Russo, Roberta Alteri, Andrea Paribeni, hosted inside the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo in Rome.
The exhibition Giacomo Boni. L'alba della modernità features two works from the permanent collection of the Galleria d'arte moderna in Rome: Domus Aurea by Adolfo de Carolis (1906-1910, inv. AM 1149) and La Ninfa addormentata by Antonio Discovolo (1921, inv. AM 10).
The exhibition aims to provide an overall view of an extraordinary character, Giacomo Boni (1859-1925) who, from self-taught, became an archaeologist and architect, developing innovative methods of excavation, restoration and valorisation. He was an attentive disseminator of his own archaeological discoveries, revealing a pre-Republican and mediaeval Rome. He is also a pioneer in the area of documentation of excavations and communication, using photographs taken from above with an aerostatic balloon.
