Shepard Fairey. 3 decades of dissent
Shepard Fairey is one of the most well-known Urban artists globally. His fame peaked following the famous sticker campaign, which spread virally, featuring the face of the wrestling champion "OBEY The Giant".
The artist later reached the pinnacle of his fame thanks to his well-known portrait of Obama, represented by the artist in the 2008 with Hope, the poster for the presidential campaign.
Fairey presents the iconic images that have characterized his work to date. Through connections, suggestions and interferences in a dialogue with artworks from the collection of the Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Roma, in a series of thematic, iconographic and political references.
Alongside the exhibition, an installation by Sten Lex. Rinascita, the creators of the stencil poster technique, will be on display. Sten Lex will present a work that aims to emphasize an aesthetic renaissance in Rome.
The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Wunderkammern Roma - Milan.
